The Sattler Microaire Cannula is built from surgical-grade German stainless steel with a high-polish mirror finish on both the external shaft wall and the internal bore. Its working zone carries 24 small circular bilateral ports arranged in two symmetrical lateral rows, each port measuring approximately 1.5 mm in diameter and spaced evenly across the active length. The MicroAire power hub sits at the proximal end — a polymer composite fitting designed to lock directly onto the MicroAire PAL-650 handpiece with a non-slip, vibration-stable connection. The tip is a closed atraumatic dome, blunt and fully rounded, allowing safe tissue tunneling without cutting fibrous structures. Available shaft diameters run from 3.0 mm to 4.0 mm, with working lengths of 20 cm and 30 cm.
The 24-port bilateral layout distributes suction evenly across both shaft sides simultaneously on each reciprocating stroke. The MicroAire PAL system drives the cannula at up to 4,500 reciprocating strokes per minute with a 2.4 mm stroke amplitude, reducing the physical push-pull effort required from the surgeon. How many times can the Sattler Microaire Cannula be reprocessed before it should be discarded?
Per MicroAire IFU guidelines, multi-use cannulas should be reprocessed no more than 20 times. Before each use, the hub and shaft fenestrations should be inspected under 10–15x magnification for cracking, corrosion, or distortion. Any unit showing visible defects should be discarded immediately regardless of cycle count.
